OPC Conversion Tool

You can convert an older version of an OPC CSV configuration file to the latest version using the following conversion tool: Siemens.Gms.Opc.Csv.Converter.exe. For instructions, see Convert the Format of an OPC Configuration File.

The executable file is located in the following folder:
[Installation Drive]:\[Installation Folder]\GMSMainProject\bin.

This conversion is required when further versions of the CSV file are changed: before the import, the OPC import process checks for the supported file version; if the format of the CSV file has changed then the user is prompted to convert the older version OPC file to the newer version.

When the old file is converted, a new configuration file is automatically created in the same directory of the old one with the same name and suffix _converted. If a converted file with the same name already exists in the directory, numbering will be appended to the suffix (for example, [name of the OPC file]_converted_1. Numbering will be increased for each new version of the configuration file with the same name)

In a converted file:

• Only one section for the [FILE VERSION] and [LIBRARY] sections is available.
• The library name may vary.
• One or more [SERVERS], [GROUPS], and [ITEMS] sections can be available.
• Only mandatory fields are populated.
