Manually Creating an OPC Library

To create an OPC library for integrating a third-party OPC device into Desigo CC instead of using the customization feature to automatically create the required library structure, you can construct the library manually. For background information, see OPC DA Library.

  • You are trained and authorized to work with system libraries. Also you are authorized to handle libraries for the specific customization level (L4-Project, L3-Country, or L2-Region).
  • System Manager is in Engineering mode.
  • System Browser is in Management View.
  1. Select Project > System Settings > Libraries > L2-Region or L3-Country or L4-Project.
  1. In the Library Configurator tab, click New and select New Library Object.
  1. In the General Settings expander, specify the following fields:
  • Discipline: Enter the name of the folder (for example, Global) under which the OPC library will be placed. If the folder does not yet exist it will be created.
  • System
  • (Optional) Level tag (available only for L4-Project libraries)
  • (Optional) Version
  • (Optional) Date
  • (Optional) Languages, Dependencies
  1. Click Save .
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description for the new library.
  1. Click OK.
  • The new OPC library is added to System Browser.
  1. In the Library Configurator tab, click New and select New Object Model Folder.
  1. (Optional) Enter values in the following fields: Version, Revision, Date and Notes.
  1. Click Save .
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description (for example, Object Model).
  1. Click OK.
  • The new folder is added to the OPC library.
  1. In the Library Configurator tab, click New and select New OPC Standard Import Rules.
  1. (Optional) Enter values in the following fields: Version, Revision, Date and Notes.
  1. Click Save .
  1. In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description (for example, Import Rules).
  1. Click OK.
  • The import rules block is added to the OPC library.
